As we reflect on what we’re grateful for, AlphaGroup believes that sharing what we have and giving back to those in need is an equally important part of the season. Food insecurity affects approximately 34 million people in the US and is directly linked to poorer overall health and increased risk of diet-related chronic diseases. This November, to help combat food insecurity, AlphaGroup supported the Philadelphia-based organization MANNA.

AlphaGroup staff came out with friends and family to volunteer at MANNA

MANNA is a non-profit organization that prepares and delivers medically tailored meals to those in need. The organization also offers nutrition education to individuals with serious illnesses—including cancer, renal disease, and HIV/AIDS—in the Greater Philadelphia area. On November 19, AlphaGroup volunteered to help MANNA package and prepare meals. Volunteers assisted in a variety of tasks, including packing up hundreds of healthy meals, prepping baking sheets for the oven, unpacking boxes, and cleaning up the kitchen.

In addition, many employees who were unable to volunteer in person opted to donate to MANNA or other organizations fighting food insecurity. Employee generosity totaled $375 in monetary donations, which was matched by AlphaGroup for a donation total of $750. Other employees chose to volunteer their time or donate resources to their own local food banks and food pantries. AlphaGroup is proud to support the critical work of these organizations and is grateful to all our staff who participated!
